Is it weird that I ratholed in my lecture tonight?

Good ol, MBW.

A little Overheard to brighten up your day:

Little boy: Mom, how did the dinosaurs cook their meat? Mother: They didn’t, they ate it raw. Little boy: Oh. [Long pause.] Are Japanese people dinosaurs? [Link]

As I was reading through Wikipedia today, I decided to see what articles came up for various numbers. As it turns out, most numbers, like 42, take you to a page about that year. (By the way, did you know that Claudius began construction of Portus in the year 42?) To access the page about a number, they append _(number). While Looking at that page, I noticed that the Hebrew Numeral representation of 42 is מב (Mem Bet, and remember, you read from right to left). This led me to the following train of thought:

  1. My Hebrew name (being a child raised by Jewish parents, I know this well) is משה בך.
  2. My initials are מב, which as seen earlier, is equivalent to 42.
  3. As many people know, 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything.

Therefore, quite clearly, by the process know in Hebrew as Gematria, I am the answer of life, the universe and everything.

Of course, even though that specific combinations of characters could happen to any number of people, it only means something when referring to me. Oh, the joys of religion.

It is as jarring as if, say, Anne Hathaway suddenly announced that instead of playing sweet-natured princesses and fashion-world ingénues, she wanted to appear onstage as a nude, murderous prostitute.
